Nissan 300ZX Twin Turbo

Salvaged from certain death, this 1990 Z32 2+0 coupe was in much better condition than originally thought. 1 fried turbo and the bulk of the engine was rebuilt. This is good news for me, because all that needs to be done to the engine now is adapt the new turbos onto the car. This was easier said than done.

Week 1

Sunday was the first day we actually worked on the Z. It saw it’s first heated garage in over 7 months and got thawed out quite nicely. With the engine on a stand, we bolted on the old turbos to see how everything hooked up. The turbos are fairly close, but gaskets and adapter plates for the pre-cats will have to be made.

The Veilside body kit is from a 2+2, so the side skirts are about 4 inches too long in the back. They will have to be trimmed a bit to fit on the car, but that will come later. The rest of the kit should fit fine.

Incoming Parts

I love you, replacement ECU chip! This little baby removes the speed cap (now up to 275 KPH top speed) as well as ups the rev limiter to 7300. The timing for the higher PSI turbos is tweaked as well. This one was made for me by GMS Racing, Inc. and should be here soon. They are also providing me with replacement boost jets to match.

03/14/04—This update is dedicated to Mike, who is probably the only person actually checking this website on a regular basis. Added some pictures, as well as updated the “Incoming Parts” section.

02/29/04—Haven’t updated in awhile, as there wasn’t really much new to show. Mostly been working on adapting the new turbo chargers. Did some painting yesterday as well.

02/11/04—The site has been moved to a faster host, and the pictures actually work now!
